EU clears Abbott acquisition of Alere subject to divestments

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - European Union antitrust regulators cleared Abbott Laboratories' proposed $5.8 billion acquisition of diagnostic test maker Alere on Wednesday, subject to the divestment of some of Alere's operations.
